Optional Activities

We offer a wide range of optional extra activities to enjoy in the evening or on your free day.  Choose from:

Granada, Alhambra Palace & Generalife Gardens Excursion

Granada is only an hours drive inland from us and the fabulous AlhambraAlhambra palace with Sierra Nevada in background Palace, short listed as one of the seven modern wonders of the world and designated a world heritage site (along with the Albaicin area) is really a “must see” while here in Andalucia.

On arrival in Granada you can visit the Royal Chapel in the Cathedral, where amongst others Ferdinand of Aragon & Isabel of Castile are buried, then visit the Arab silk market where you may well be offered traditional mint tea in the shops as you browse.  Wander through the narrow lanes of the Albaicin, which is the old Moorish kasbah or medina on the hill facing the Alhambra with its white washed houses and cobbled streets, up to the mirador de San Nicolas where you get a fantastic aerial view of the Alhambra, perhaps with the snows on Sierra Nevada in the background.

Then you’re off to the incredible Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens for a fully escorted tour with a professional guide who will explain all the history and enchanting stories of this last stronghold of the Moors.  The Alhambra is a collection of palaces and gardens built in the 14c under the Nasrid dynasty assembled into a mighty castle, as well as the summer palace and world famous gardens of the Generalife.

Entrance as well as the fully guided tour of the Alhambra and Generalife gardens all included.  This excursion is fully guided and escorted, with highly professional English speaking guides at the palace who will really bring this beautiful palace to life with their tales and ensure you get absolutely the most out of your visit.

Old Town Tapas Trail

Here in Andalucia we still enjoy "free" tapas with our drinks as has been the custom for years.  Come and join us for a fun night out sampling the local tapas in authentic Spanish bars.  A great way to find your feet around the old town, as we will visit some of the very best tapas bars in the town.

Flamenco & BBQ Night

Andalucia is the home of Flamenco and no holiday would be complete without enjoying at least one flamenco night with it's exotic guitar playing, singing and dancing.

Our Flamenco night is held at an old road side inn (or “Venta”) some 10 minutes inland from Almuñécar.  Here you get a fantastic BBQ with a great selection of meats & local vegetables, accompanied by local wines, sangrias & beers, followed by a tropical fruit dessert / local cheeses.  Local musicians entertain you during the meal on traditional historic instruments, who are very happy to explain their history if you chat to them.

After your meal you then move to the seated theatre to experience a great flamenco show, with authentic singing, dancing and guitar playing.   This is a great night out - and a very popular one as people travel from quite long distances to come here - as famous flamenco singers / guitarists sometimes turn up to perform at the Venta.

Mountain Bikes

You don't need to head into the hills, but if you simply fancy taking a bike for a leisurely explore along the coast, perhaps stopping for a lunch of freshly grilled fish at a beachside chiringuito, or swimming in some of the 26 coves & beaches next to us, then one of our bikes may be just the ticket.  Regular guided trips around the tropical fruit orchards and lanes around the town as well, for the less energetic!

Non riding partners or friends?

We have the perfect solution as we can easily put together an itinerary for them with one or more of our optional activities, including some riding if they so wish.  See our non riding partners or friends page for more info.
