are based here
in Almuñécar
and
are the leading provider of riding & multi activity
holidays on the Costa Tropical in Andalucia, Spain. We are fully registered with the Mercantil de Granada and
are members of the local Patronato de Tourismo (tourist board).
We specialise in small group riding holidays in order to provide a personal touch. Our normal group size is 5 per ride so you are assured of individual attention from your guide, with no nose to tail plodding along the tracks in long lines!
About us
Riding Holidays In Spain is owned & run by Ian, Julie & Rosie Burgess and is based in Almuñécar, a typical Spanish sea side town in southern Andalucia, Spain.
Julie Burgess is originally from Shoreham on Sea, near Brighton, and was a Senior Nursing Sister in an acute surgical hospital in the UK, having spent 25 years nursing. Her passion is the riding side of the business and she worked extensively with the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) in Bristol. She is mad about animals in general and runs the riding holiday division of the business.
We draw from over 30 horses based, currently, over three separate riding centres / stables in order to match your ability. We can offer you English, Western, Portuguese or Spanish style riding on your riding holiday, with a wide selection of mounts ranging from those suitable for complete novices, to more forward going for the more experienced riders. Our instructors are all qualified, BHS trained and are all English speaking.
About you and your riding holiday
We appreciate fully that riding holidays, especially quality holidays, do not come cheap. We work with you in advance to ascertain both your ability and your expectation of your holiday in order to ensure your are matched to the right horse and the right kind of routes.
You do not have to be an expert rider (see below). We work very hard to ensure all our groups are of a similar ability, and are of a similar experience regarding the type of terrain. This is important, as in the winter season we are fortunate in being able to offer, experience and conditions permitting, exhilarating beach rides alongside the glittering blue sea.
Riding lessons while on holiday for novice or "rusty riders"
You do not need to be an expert rider, as we cater for the complete novice up to the most experienced riders. We can provide riding lessons on holiday from BHS trained instructors here in Spain - or one to one lessons in sheltered arenas for both "rusty riders" and total beginners. You will be amazed at how quickly you improve with either one to one, or a very small group lessons, perhaps taking just an hour each morning before heading out to enjoy great riding in the beautiful countryside.
Totally Sorted Sports
Due to continued expansion and interest in our dedicated riding holidays the "Riding Holidays in Spain" website was created to concentrate on the riding holidays division of Totally Sorted Sports. "Totally Sorted Sports SL" is the parent company - "Riding Holidays in Spain" is the marketing division of Totally Sorted which concentrates on dedicated riding holidays.
The difference is marginal - clients on riding holidays, or non-riding friends and partners can join in any of the other activities offered by Totally Sorted Sports. Riding is still available as as part of the great multi activity holidays provided by Totally Sorted Sports, but this site is purely for our riding holidays.
