Autumn / Winter / Spring Riding Holiday Itinerary
Autumn / Winter / Spring riding holiday dates
Our Autumn / Winter / Spring Riding Holidays
run until Fri 1st June 2012, then from Sat 29 Sep 2012.
Our Summer Riding Itinerary runs from Sat
02 June 2012,
as during the midsummer heat we will not ride mid day as it is too
hot for the horses.
Autumn / Winter / Spring riding holidays -
typical
Itinerary:
This Autumn - Winter - Spring riding holiday itinerary starts from
late Sep, as after the summer heat we
can start enjoying full day rides again, stopping for picnic lunches with the
horses. Also, with the seasonal decline in sun bathers, the opportunity
for beach rides arises! You will be "in the saddle" on five days stopping
for lunch with the horses on at least a couple of days. You
will still get time for some sight seeing - or
perhaps a visit to Granada to see the Alhambra - as well as all this riding!
The autumn / winter / spring riding holidays itinerary runs until early June when we switch to our
Summer
Itinerary.
- Saturday - We meet you at Malaga Airport (see
transfer times) and transfer you to your accommodation,
where we will run through your fully detailed welcome folder
with all the local maps and guides you need to get the most from
your stay.
Saturday - Evening After settling in to your accommodation, we
all meet in a beach side bar for a welcome drink & tapa. Here
we get a chance to discuss the coming week, before enjoying a
typical Andalucian meal & local wines.
- Sunday - 1/2 day ride from our nearby stables on the coast
to get those legs working after the flight. Depending on ability
we may take a beach ride, or perhaps head off inland to explore
the trails in the hills with their views over the surrounding
villages and sea. Time also to explore around Almuñécar, or
perhaps neighbouring Salobreña.
- Monday - Full days riding
from our stables near to La
Herradura. Here you will be lucky enough to able to choose from
riding in Spanish, Western or English tack. The horses are
beautifully schooled and you will enjoy a fantastic day ride
with your guide, stopping for a picnic lunch with the horses.
Approximately 5 - 6 hrs in the saddle.
Monday - Evening After our riding we meet up in a beach bar and
then we set off for an evening's mini-tour of Almuñécar to get
you orientated. On this we will see some of the Roman ruins, the
castle, old town and a few of the lovely monuments and statues
by Miguel Moreno.
- Tuesday - Morning Time off to explore the old town in
Almuñécar or maybe take one of our local self-guided walks to
discover the wealth of Phoenician, Roman and Moorish history
that Almuñécar has to offer.
Tuesday - Afternoon Enjoy a fantastic afternoon / early evening
ride from stables in the natural park, where we may pass
waterfalls in the pine forests, or perhaps head for the beach
for the possibility of a beach ride (conditions & ability
permitting) or back through the olive trees as the sun starts to
dip towards the horizon.
Tuesday - Evening Join us on our fun filled Tapas Trail, where
€15 "in the kitty" takes around the old town with its tapas bars
and restaurants. A great way to get to know the historic old
part of town, with its cobbled streets lined with small shops
as well as the local tapas & specialities.
- Wednesday - Daytime Free time to maybe try one of our
optional activities, visit the amazing
Alhambra Palace in
Granada, go sightseeing or mountain biking, take a walk, visit a
spa, or just relax by the glittering blue sea. Or take time to
explore more of Almuñécar with its history dating back to
Phoenician times and Roman ruins. The choice is yours!
- Thursday - Back to the stables for a full days riding,
stopping with the horses for a restaurant tapas lunch. We may
ride down to the beach, or perhaps stay in the natural park pine forests
following the trails into the sierras for fantastic views over
the glittering blue sea.. Lunch is usually at a tapas
style picnic, where we tie the horses in the shade for
a well earned break, while we feast on local specialities.
- Friday - Chance to quickly visit the weekly market
held in the feria to snap up some bargain leather, pottery or
the delicious local honey, before heading of for a final half
day ride along the mule tracks and trails threading through the
mango and avocado orchards in the hills behind La Herradura,
with fantastic views over the bay and the sparkling blue sea.
Possibility of a last ride along the beach, or a chance to stop
at a horsey bar where we can have a quick tapas in the saddle!
- Saturday - Transfer from your accommodation back to Malaga
airport for your flight home.
